2020 Vision

STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND DRAINAGE

• Implement a long-range Street, Sidewalk and Drainage Plan promoting efficiency, safety and protection for our citizens and their property
• Make significant traffic improvements each year with priority given to safety around our schools, traffic congestion and development of all parts of Jonesboro
• Clean-out our ditches and once clean, maintain them to control flooding and save citizens property and money
• Complete construction of regional detention ponds to control flooding
• Coordinate our traffic signalization system to save citizens time and fuel costs
  
• Build more sidewalks around our schools and parks to improve our children’s safety. 

PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME

• Implement programs such as Drug Court, Criminal Nuisance Abatement, Sexual Offender Neighborhood Notification, Neighborhood Watch and other programs focused on protecting our families, homes and businesses
• Ensure that our Fire and Police continue to be properly trained and equipped
• Complete the fire station relocation plan to reduce emergency response times to better protect our families and to reduce our fire insurance premiums
• Coordinate better communication between our schools, our youth organizations, our neighborhoods and our police to identify issues before problems such as gang activity arises
  
• Establish a Regional Disaster Coordination Commission to ensure that our region is prepared to respond in cases of significant natural or man-made disasters.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE

• Continue to work for completion of I-555 and Highway 226 connector to Little Rock
• Protect our citizens’ homes and property values from “spot zoning” and other negative effects
• Promote cooperation between Jonesboro’s development community and city staff to ensure efficiencies and continued economic growth
• Support our proven industrial recruitment strategies and work with our economic development team to ensure continued job growth and prosperity
  
• Promote public participation and input to further develop and improve our Parks programs and facilities and other city services.
   
  

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

• Operate our city government in a fiscally responsible manner to reduce the burden on our senior citizens, our young families and others on fixed or limited incomes
• Operate our city government in an open and honest manner to ensure that elected officials have the trust and confidence of the citizens
• Ensure that our citizens are treated as customers when dealing with city hall

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

Represent ALL of the citizens of Jonesboro, encourage public input and serve the best interest of the community as a whole.
